Hotel Spielmann

When we learned we had received an appointment to be married on the Zugspitze this past August we set out to find the perfect location to be our home base and retreat for all times before, during and after the much-anticipated wedding. When we saw the location of the Spielmann, adjacent to a meadow in little Ehrwald, we were immediately drawn in. After viewing the Spielmann’s website and reviews, we were certain that we had found the perfect hotel for our visit. However, it was not until we arrived and experienced the Spielmann and its extended family that we truly knew we had found everything we had hoped for. We absolutely loved our very spacious room and the unobstructed view of the Wetterstein. The bathroom was gorgeous and completely updated. We took advantage of the half-board (5 course dinner at the hotel) which was very reasonably priced. We thought at first that we would dine out occasionally but ended up having dinner at The Spielmann’s each and every evening. There was such great variety that none of the meals were ever repeated during our 10-day stay. And everything was delicious! Our stay at the Spielmann was one that invoked a feeling of home more than anything else. It would be impossible to point to any one thing that made it this way. However, it was a combination of the characteristic building and structure itself, the cozy, alpine décor, the incredibly thoughtful and plentiful amenities, the wonderful food, the amazing location and most importantly, the genuine, personable, and caring Spielmann family and staff that truly brought about this feeling. Needless to say, we would highly recommend the Hotel Spielmann to anyone looking to vacation in the Ehrwald region. Whether it be a family, or a couple looking for the perfect place to call home for a vacation getaway, the Spielmann will undoubtedly exceed all your needs and expectations. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to return ourselves.

We stayed last week, and actually a bit shocked by the comments in the previous persons review! The pool was more than warm enough! My partner and myself enjoyed it for hours at a time. Regarding the food, I am a very fussy eater, but I ate every meal and tried so many things, because each item was cooked and presented superbly. The breakfast was extensive, and personally I liked the orange juice! Thank you Markus and Martina for being so helpful and friendly, and special thanks to Markus for being so entertaining and a great bar tender. We found the hotel stunning, the food fantastic and to be able to ski straight on to the slope, was amazing. The owners were so lovely and even went out their way to pick us up when we were late on the train. When I got back injured on the slope, the staff went out of the way again to help and sort the doctor for me. Regarding coffee, you don’t need it in your room, just go sit in the bar and be sociable! The only criticism I would have, is that their website doesn’t sell how great this hotel is!

Honestly, I have seen a lot… but after spending a holiday here at Spielmann I can honestly say that this experience was truly like having a home away from home. Beautiful rooms, amazing bed, astonishing SPA and just heartfelt and high quality service. After spending some days we regretted having to leave… so much so that we decided to turn our car after spending some days at lake Garda to come back “home”. We were welcomed with open arms, a heartfelt smile, our table was prepared immediately and our body relaxed the moment we set foot in the hotel again… honestly… I am not exaggerating… Spielmann Hotel, is just one for in the books! If Google would allow me, I would give a sixth star for the amount of care we received!
